A Repository for COVID Conscious Living in Portland, Oregon
For the last few years, I’ve been incredibly lucky to be able to visit one of the popular Sauvie farms after hours to pick berries. It’s quiet, the island is empty of tourists, animals come back out, you can watch an eagle fly back and forth over the berry fields. Watching the sun go down on Sauvie while eating warm berries is magical. I’m gauging interest in a mid week COVID cautious berry picking event. This would be 6pm-9pm.
Precautions: This is an all ages event. This is not a masked required event (you can still mask if you prefer). You prepay for the number of flats you want, and then we’d all operate with the shared understanding that every group stays 15 feet away from any other. It’s quite easy, the fields are gigantic.
Accommodations:Â It’s not very accessible, and picking strawberries is quite physical, a lot of leaning over, crouching, etc. The ground is uneven, and there’s a good distance to walk between the parking lot and the strawberry field. Still, if you wanted to just come and enjoy watching the sunset, there is seating and a relatively flat, covered space near the parking lot.
Ticket terms: You’ll just pay for the number of flats you want to pick. There’s no entry fee.
